ÖTK Eschenau St. Pölten Verified partner
The origins of today's ÖTK Section Eschenau-St. Pölten, the owner of the Kaiserkogel Hut, date back to the St. Pölten Section, which was founded in 1866. In 1910, the alpine society "Almrauschgmoa" was established, which joined the ÖTK as an independent section on January 25, 1914. From 1920, it was known as Section II St. Pölten with an operational area in the Lower Austrian Pre-Alps. In 1930, Sections St. Pölten I and II merged into one Section St. Pölten. On April 13, 1946, the section was reformed and began rebuilding the Kaiserkogel Hut, which had been severely damaged during the war. In the mid-1980s, the headquarters was moved to Eschenau, and the association was renamed Section Eschenau-St. Pölten.
Eschenau is the first eco-village of Lower Austria (NÖ), located 20 kilometers south of the state capital St. Pölten. The ÖTK and our section aim to cultivate and strengthen the love for the Austrian homeland, landscape, and mountain world.
To expand and disseminate knowledge about the mountains and caves, especially the Austrian ones.
To promote mountaineering, climbing, hiking, caving, white-water paddling, canyoning, cycling, mountain biking, running, and all types of skiing, and to offer training for these activities.
To facilitate all kinds of alpine activities and to cherish the beauty and originality of the mountains as well as the protection of the landscape and animal and plant life – that is, the balanced relationship of living beings to the rest of the world – and to support such efforts.
We operate the Kaiserkogel Hut.
