Surrounded by meadows, moors, and forests, Aulendorf is located in the Swabian uplands between the Danube and Lake Constance on the Upper Swabian Baroque Route and the Swabian Spa Route. The town is conveniently accessible by train from all directions as a railway hub.

For centuries, the cultural monument Aulendorf Castle – visible from afar with its distinctive Gothic stepped gable – has dominated the Upper Swabian landscape.

The so-called green vault – an extensive city park with historic trees – invites visitors to come at any time of the year. For those who prefer even more relaxation, the thermal and leisure pool Schwabentherme with its widely visible glass dome, which can be opened on beautiful days, is the place to visit.

The Steegersee moor outdoor pool is a popular meeting point on warm summer days, also for guests from the surrounding area. The lake with its soft moor water, its spacious lawns, and the longest sandy beach in Upper Swabia lies idyllically on the outskirts of the town.

All around Aulendorf, there is a dense and well-signposted network of hiking and cycling trails. A special tip is the climb to the Hohkreuz Chapel at 668 meters elevation. From there, on clear days, you can enjoy wide views extending to the Allgäu, Austrian, and Swiss Alps.

Finally, Aulendorf is widely known for its lovingly maintained and deeply rooted customs – the Fasnet. As the second largest guild of the Swabian-Alemannic Association, it is famous far beyond the region for its five mask figures, especially the Aulendorf Eckhexe (corner witch).
