Ski tours in Pfronten

A genuine mainstream route with little danger and much enjoyment. Up to the Pfrontener Alpe via forest roads and forest clearings, then to the summit with moderately steep and open slopes.

The Schönkahler mountain is one of the easiest and most popular ski tours in the Allgäu Alps. The relatively flat terrain is also ideal for snowshoeing. In cooperation with the Pfronten Law Association as the landowner and the forestry authorities in Bavaria and Tyrol, the municipality of Pfronten has created environmentally friendly routes for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers on the Schönkahler thanks to the coordination of the German Alpine Association (DAV). The local section of the DAV takes care of the maintenance of the areas on a voluntary basis, and the routes are well marked.

The short ski route to the Tiroler Stadl runs on a former standard FIS downhill run and offers a great view of the entire Pfronten valley at the top. ++Current note (Feb. 2022): the Tiroler Stadl is currently and until further notice closed!++

Simple and short introductory or training ski route, which runs two-thirds within the ski area of the Nesselwanger Alpspitzbahn. Only in the last third of the ascent do you really get the true ski touring feeling.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 prevents all PistenTour evenings until further notice. I ask the hut keeper to inform me at info@pistentour.com when he is allowed to open again.  Pisten tours in the pandemic winter 2021 – practiced visitor flow control and distribution. I ask the cable car owners and operators for the following during these times: - Opening of the parking lots belonging to the cable car - Clearing of the parking lots. - Preparation of the piste so that liability exclusions as in normal operation are ensured. In Austria, this is currently the standard. In Germany and Austria, a parking fee should be charged, which can be between 10 and 15 euros per day. - The fee, in my suggestion, can be one third for the parking lot – the second third for the piste service. The rest could be a hut voucher for a drink, if they can and may offer to GO. The reason for this recommendation is that with a lot of new snow accumulation, as we had in calendar week 3, the deeply snow-covered pistes can become an alpine hazard. Many ski tour beginners have no chance to deal with avalanche transceivers and emergency kits, current avalanche transceiver courses have all been canceled. We can exclude the ski tour visitor as little as the cross-country skier. The big request to the ski tourers is that everyone is in the valley by 9:15 pm. The piste machines must have prepared the mountain before 10:00 pm. 12 years PistenTour hut trophy. The ascent via the Heurisel parallel to the lift is no longer approved by the lift company. Reason: piste work must be possible at the rope at any time.

This ski route leads from Achtal to the summit of Breitenberg. Please watch out for sledders in the lower part of the route! After about 1.4 km, the ski route leaves the Ostlerforstweg and runs along quiet paths past the Jägerhütte towards the summit. At the top, the Ostlerhütte offers a place to stop for refreshments.

3-day ski route from Oberstdorf to Pfronten

This route starts at the valley station of the Breitenbergbahn and initially runs a stretch over meadows on the slopes of the Breitenberg before finally leading into the mountain forest. For a stretch, the ski route winds below the cable car line before turning towards the Aggensteinlift.
