From Pals to Tossa de Mar
A quintessentially Mediterranean stage that combines the rural tranquility of the Empordà hinterland with the rugged drama of the Costa Brava. From the vineyards and fields of Pals to the winding roads along the cliffs between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Tossa de Mar, the route offers a day filled with ever-changing landscapes and coastal beauty.
The Mountains and Coves of Begur
From Pals, we drive along country roads and trails through Mediterranean forests toward the mountains of Begur. Once we reach the coast, we pass Platja de Pals and the small, crystal-clear coves nestled between rocks and pine trees, including Sa Riera and Sa Tuna. From here, the road climbs to the village of Begur, known for its “Indiano” houses, watchtowers, and exceptional viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. From the castle, one of the highest points along the coast, the entire Empordà coastline stretches out—from the Medes Islands to Cap de Begur.
From Palafrugell to Palamós along the Green Way
From Begur, the route descends to Regencós on the way to Palafrugell, once the center of Catalonia’s cork industry. Here we join the Pirinexus Greenway, a flat, pleasant stretch lined with fields and farmhouses that leads us back to the sea at Palamós. This historic fishing port has retained its authentic character, with daily morning fish landings and a lively promenade and harbor area.
Between the green of the pine trees and the blue of the Mediterranean
Beyond Palamós, the route follows the coastline through Platja d’Aro, S’Agaró, and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, where one of the Costa Brava’s most spectacular roads begins—often referred to as the “road with 365 curves.” Stretching about 30 kilometers, it follows the cliff line in a succession of gentle ascents, descents, and constant curves, offering views of hidden coves and pine forests that slope down to the sea. Each curve reveals a new composition of cliffs, blue water, and the horizon. The stage ends in Tossa de Mar, dominated by its medieval castle and walls rising above the waves.
