A kilátóhely egyszerűen megközelíthető: a Somlyóvári kulcsosháztól az Országos Kéktúra nyomvonalával párhuzamosan, attól pár tíz méterre északra húzódik egy lejtősztyepprét, amelyet több kijárt, de jelzetlen ösvényen is elérhetünk. A látótávolságban lévő réten csak szórványosan áll egy-egy fa, így a kilátás zavartalan. A rétet jelzetlen ösvény vágja ketté, így akár ezen sétálva is eljuthatunk a kulcsosháztól a Somlyó csúcsára. Onnan már a Vértes is látszik, illetve Felsőgalla és Tatabánya bújik elő a délnyugati völgyekben.

- A Tarján, temető buszmegálló is jó kiindulópont.
- A Nagyegyháza, kultúrház buszmegálló is szóba jöhet az induláshoz.

- A Tornyópusztai elágazás buszmegállóból az aszfaltos úton induljunk Tornyópuszta irányába, majd a K jelzésű turistaútra csatlakozva haladjunk tovább keleti irányba (5,1 km 177 m szintemelkedés).
- A Tarján, temető buszmegállóból a település felé induljunk el a főúton, majd a házak közti jelzetlen ösvényre térjünk balra. A kereszteződésben a P jelzésű turistaúton balra forduljunk, ez fölvezet a Somlyóra (6,3 km 277 m szintemelkedés).
- A Nagyegyháza, kultúrház buszmegállóból északkeleti irányban induljunk el a K jelzésű turistaúton, amely elvezet a Somlyóra (8,7 km 210 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Tarjánban a temetőnél kiépített parkoló van.
- Tornyópusztán a behajtani tilos tábláig el tudunk menni autóval a Kéktúrával azonos nyomvonalon vezető erdei úton, itt több alkalmas parkolóhelyet is találunk.
