A 150 évesnél korosabb faállomány összterülete mindössze 20 hektár körüli. Ehhez csatlakozik egy nagyobb százéves erdőrészlet, amelyhez egy további, 140 éves kor feletti részlet kapcsolódik – így együtt már tekintélyes méretű foltról beszélhetünk.
A kidőlt fák felett létrejött lékek dinamikus fényviszonyokat hoznak létre, és méginkább kiemelik az örökzöd szúrós csodabogyós aljnövényzet szokatlanságát, amelyet a sok medvehagyma és nagyezerjófű is tarkít. Az erdőt több fafaj alkotja: bükk, kocsánytalan és csertölgy, virágos kőris. Az ilyen eltérő tulajdonságú fafajok elegye a tetőerdők jellemzője.
