A Nyugati-Mecsek barlangászok által jól ismert, mély, párás, forrásokban gazdag völgyét az idős tölgy- és bükkerdők is felejthetetlenné teszik.
A Pécs városától nem messze található, víznyelőket rejtő karsztos völgy igazi kirándulóhely, ahol sok ösvény találkozik. Évtizedek óta a Nyugat-Mecseki Tájvédelmi Körzet része. Az erdők egy része fokozottan védett területen áll, és faanyagtermelést nem szolgáló üzemmódban van. A 160 évesnél idősebb fákat is rejtő erdőrészletek összterülete 35 hektár körül van.
A völgy aljában kiszélesedő patak partján, a Bagoly-forrás placcán jellegzetes, idős gyertyán áll – olvadt viaszgyertyához hasonlatos fonatos törzse és a széles terpeszű támasztógyökerei híven tükrözik, hogy az idős fa a szivárgó vizes, laza talajhoz alkalmazkodott. A párás völgyaljból a hegyoldalra kapaszkodva szép szerkezetű, sokféle fafajból álló tölgyesben vezet az út. Ismét keletre fordulva aztán a friss vágásterületek sora következik. Míg a völgyet kíméli az erdőgazdálkodó, a hagyományos fakitermelés terepei azért közel vannak hozzá.

- Az Orfűi elágazás buszmegálló esik a legközelebb a völgy torkolatához.
- A Remete-rét megállóig tudunk a legmagasabbra utazni Pécs és Orfű között.
- Pécs felől a Mecsekszentkút és az Ürög felső buszmegállóig érdemes utazni (helyi járatokkal).

- Az Orfűi elágazásból a K+ jelzésen, az országút mentén jutunk a völgy alsó bejáratához (550 m, 20 m szintemelkedés).
- A Remete-réttől a Dél-dunántúli Kéktúra K jelzése vezet a völgy forrásvidékére, alternatív leágazási lehetőséggel a K● és K▲ jelzéseken (3,0 km, 103 m szintemelkedés).
- Mecsekszentkút megállóhelytől a K▲, majd a P jelzés vezet a völgy forrásterületére (2,5 km, 166 m szintemelkedés).
- Ürög felső megállótól a K+ jelzés vezet az Éger-völgyön felkapaszkodva a Szuadó-völgybe (3,5 km, 210 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Parkolni Orfűn a strandnál lehet legkényelmesebben.
- Pécs mellett az éger-völgyi parkolóban tudunk legkönnyebben parkolni.
