Bordering the Piazza Maggiore is the Piazaa del Nettuno, which owes its name to a powerful bronze statue sculpted by Giambologna in 1566. Below the muscular sea god, four cherubim symbolise the winds and four bulbous, water-spouting sirens the four continents known at the time.
