Triglavska Bistrica Educational Trail
The educational trail, where we find information points with various topics, leads us through the longest glacial valley in the Triglav National Park
We start the route at the Slovenian Mountain Museum, where one of the info point of the Triglav National Park is also located. We continue along the river, Triglavska Bistrica, where information points await us along the way. The route passes by the Peričnik waterfalls and Galerije and finishes at the end of the Vrata valley. There, the last info point on the way provides us an insight into the history of alpinism in the Northern Triglav wall.
The route is technically undemanding, but it is a long route (11 km one way). It mostly runs along paths and trails along Triglavska Bistrica and only joins the road in short sections.

Attractions along the way: The Slovenian Alpine Museum, Peričnik waterfall, conglomerate galleries, meadows, gable of the Vrata valley with a view of the North Triglav wallRoadbook
South of the museum, you cross the Triglavska Bistrica stream and head west towards the Vrata Valley. After 200 m on an asphalt road, the hiking trail begins. After 1km, you reach a crossroads where our trail leads you to the right, but if you want to see Lake Kreda, you continue for another 100 m on the left path. At Lake Kreda, another information board from Triglav National Park awaits you.
After 1.5 km of hiking, you can see on your right side, the last houses in Mojstrana village, the bridge over Triglavska Bistrica stream, and the "official" entrance with vehicles to the Vrata Valley with the traffic counter. You continue the path along the right bank of the Triglavska Bistrica downstream. After 3.7 km of hiking, you reach the bridge over Triglavska Bistrica stream, which directs you across the river onto an asphalt road, where you continue for another 500 m to the Koča pri Peričniku (hut near Peričnik waterfall). There, you can follow a marked trail to the waterfall (15 minutes to the lower waterfall, 20 minutes to the upper one) or continue westward where you continue on the road, where after 1.5 km of hiking, you turn left and return to the hiking trail before the start of a 25 % incline.
Soon you reach the conglomearte galleries where you usually get a little wet because of a dripping water. The trail then rejoins the asphalt road leading to the Vrata Valley. You follow the road for about 500 m and then turn left again onto the hiking trail, where you cross the Triglavska Bistrica steam and continue on right bank of the river. After a few minutes of hiking, you cross the river again over a small bridge and continue on the path to an asphalt road. On your left side, you can soon see a hummocky meadow.
After about a kilometer of hiking on the road, you arrive to the Aljaž lodge in the Vrata valley. The Triglavska Bistrica trail doesn't end there, but it continues past the lodge. After 500 m of hiking, you pass by the monument to fallen partisan mountaineers, which was built in 1953. The monument represents an enormous climbing piton with a loop. Piton measures 3.1 m with a loop of 0.9 m. The monument was made in the town of Jesenice.
From the piton, it is only a 10-minute hike to the end of the trail. Trail ends with an information board at the bottom of the 3 km wide and 1 km high Triglav North Face, which includes more than 100 climbing routes.
