Roadbook
- Savogno - Pos Motta: In Savogno, the hiking trail leaves the village in a south-eastern direction and runs parallel to the slope - partly secured with cables - through a light mountain forest until it merges after about 15 minutes on foot into a downhill track. At a right turn, the Sentiero Panoramico leaves the road again and leads with alternating up and downs high above Val Bregaglia towards Soglio. From several possible descents to Castasegna, hikers looking for a place to eat choose the variant at Malga del Togne towards Villa di Chiavenna passing by Bar Ristoro Pos Motta (dining option).
- Pos Motta - Castasegna: From Bar Ristoro Pos Motta, continue down into the center of Villa di Chiavenna and to the small dam that impounds the Mera here into the 'Lago di Villa di Chiavenna'. At the barrier, the Mera is crossed. The route now runs comfortably along the opposite shore of the reservoir into San Barnaba and further, crossing the Mera again, now on the orographically right bank of the Mera parallel to the federal road uphill towards the border crossing Castasegna. Shortly before the Swiss border, the motorway can be crossed via a pedestrian and cycle tunnel, and the path continues to the border control buildings until a footpath finally leads a few altitude meters up to the center of Castasegna.
- Brentan sweet chestnut forest: On a terrace above Castasegna, an orchard-like grove of mighty chestnut trees forms one of the largest and most beautiful sweet chestnut forests in Europe. One should take the time for a walk through this unique cultural landscape whenever possible. Panels inform visitors about the local flora and fauna as well as the diversity of the chestnuts and their cultivation.
