Val Bregaglia: From Castasengna to Castelmur castle and to Soglio
Bergell Mountains / Val Bregaglia (Switzerland)
First from Castasengna on the valley route - with a short detour to the late medieval house ruin Casnàcc - to the tranquil village of Bondo. Over the new Bondasca bridge up to the church Sta. Maria Nossa Donna and to the hill castle Castelmur above Promontogno. After descending to La Porta, the route goes over the bridge of Promontogno and up to the sunny terrace of Soglio, probably the best-known village of Bergell.

Roadbook
- Castasegna: In Castasegna follow the main street through the village towards the eastern end, where the hiking trail branches to the right (trail signs), passes under the main road in a pedestrian tunnel and shortly afterwards crosses the Maira river on a masonry arch bridge. Turning left, the trail leads close to the river towards Bondo; approx. 400m after the Maira bridge a sign points to the late medieval house ruin Casnàcc.
- Castasegna - Bondo: On the left bank of the Maira, the path leads through lush meadows and deciduous forest in about 1 hour to Bondo (dining options).
- Bondo - Castelmur: After Bondo - with its worth visiting church Chiesa Evangelica Riformata S. Martino - cross the Bondasca stream and the flood protection structures on the new pedestrian suspension bridge. Pass the Crotti above the village on the road towards Promontogno, from which a narrow path soon branches off to the right and leads up to the church Sta. Maria Nossa Donna with a crypt and the ruins of Castelmur castle, built on a rocky ridge. This ridge forms the valley narrows 'Porta', separating the upper from the lower Bergell.
- Castelmur - Promontogno: A footpath leads westwards through a hillside forest from the castle downwards and joins the road at the hamlet 'La Porta', which continues downhill to Promontogno.
- Promontogno - Soglio: Opposite the Maira bridge at Promontogno, the hiking trail (trail signs) leads through the hillside forest – partly secured with cables and offering impressive views – up to the meadow terraces at Soglio.
