Iso-Pölly is the highest summit of the Vuokatti Hills, 326 meters above sea level. The view over the lakes of Sotkamo opens up in every direction.
The landscape of Sotkamo and Vuokatti is mainly formed by a chain of 13 hills. From the top of the hills you can enjoy a wonderful view to the land of lakes, which reflects the most beautiful things of Finnish nature. The image of the view from Vuokatti hill was printed onto a 500 Finnish mark banknote (now out of use).
It is also possible to hike in Vuokatinvaara Outdoor recreation area MAP. A short hike takes you to the Pöllylampi pond with it's campfire place and grilling hut.
In the winter Vuokatinrinteet ski resort offers slopes for all levels.
Vaaran Tupa cafe is open during the peak season.
The view point of Vuokatti hill can be reached by car, taking road 76 between Sotkamo and Kajaani.
Vuokatti hills attract hikers all year round, especially in autumn when the nature wears all the possible colours. The oldest Finnish hiking event, Vuokatin Vaellus, is held here annually, in September. The route follows the national UKK-long distance hiking route.

Directions
From Vuokatti Sports Institute: Travel 2,2 km towards Kajaani (rd nr 76). Turn left from Vuokatintie to Vuokatinvaarantie (road nr 8741) that leads to the top of Vuokatinvaara. The sightseeing point is approx. 200 meters by foot from the parking area.
From Holiday Club Katinkulta: From the Katinkullantie junction at Vuokatti S-market, turn right. Follow the signs to Vuokatinrinteet-Kajaani. Just after passing K-supermarket Vuokatti on Kuikkalammentie, you arrive at a junction of Vuokatintie. Turn right towards Kajaani. Travel 1,1 km, then turn left to Vuokatinvaarantie (road nr 8741) that leads to the top of Vuokatinvaara.

Kohteen virallinen pysäköintialue sijaitsee osoitteessa Vuokatinvaarantie 15, josta on 180 metriä pitkä asfalttipintainen ylämäki katselutasanteelle. Esteettömiä palveluita tarvitsevat voivat jatkaa pysäköintialueen ohitse huoltotietä katselutasanteen vieressä sijaitsevalle tasaiselle ja asfalttipintaiselle pysäköintialueelle. Pysäköintialueella ei ole erikseen merkittyjä esteettömiä autopaikkoja eikä alueella ole valaistusta. Sama pysäköintialue toimii myös saattoliikenteelle. Katselutasanne sijaitsee pysäköintialueen reunassa. Talvisin katselutasanne sijaitsee osin laskettelurinteen kulku-uralla eikä sinne ole talvikunnossapitoa.
Esteettömyyskuvaus
Katselutasanteelle johtaa 1,2 metriä leveä ja 25 metriä pitkä puupintainen luiska, jonka poikkilaudoituksen välit ovat noin 0,5 senttimetriä. Luiskan pituuskaltevuus on enimmillään yhdeksän prosenttia ja luiskassa on suojakaiteet molemmin puolin. Luiskan puolivälissä on tasainen alue. Luiskalle siirtyminen tapahtuu kapean asfaltoidun korokkeen kautta, jossa on pieni kynnys luiskalle siirryttäessä. Katselutasanteen vapaan tila on noin kaksi metriä suuntaansa. Tasoa kiertävä suojakaide on noin yhden metrin korkeudella ja monipuolainen, jonka vuoksi osalla apuvälineiden käyttäjistä voi olla hankalaa kuvata ja katsella maisemia. Kaiteiden violetti väri erottuu selkeästi. Rinteissä ylempänä sijaitseva näkötorni ei ole esteetön, mutta pystyssä liikkuville saavutettavissa. Virallisella pysäköintialueella on puucee, mutta se ei ole esteetön.
