Free, freely accessible exhibition of sculptures by international sculptors at 8 central points in Rodalben.
Mighty sandstone sculptures stand at the two exits of Rodalben in Gräfensteiner Land and point to the Rhineland-Palatinate Sculpture Trail, the other sections of which are located in the direction of Kaiserslautern at Karls- and Schweinstal and in the direction of Annweiler on the Southern Wine Route. A total of 8 sculptures by international sculptors can be found - freely accessible - scattered throughout the town and invite visitors to take a tour of the pretty little town in the Gräfenstein region as an eye-catcher and a signal that it is worthwhile. They were created from 14.08. to 23.09.1995 in the "Freiluftatelier" Lindersbach. Admission is free. Here is some information about the works of art and their locations:
The "sail" by Christoph Mancke from the Eifel, a composition of stone and iron, welcomes the visitor at the northern entrance to the village coming from the direction of the B270.
A few hundred metres further along the bypass, at the Rodalben-Süd exit, the Swiss André Jaquet has placed his "Sunshine". At certain times of day, a ray of sunlight falls through the sculpture. Memories of archaic menhirs and other cult sites come to mind.
On the descent to Pirmasens, you pass the "Couple" by the Croatian Ljubo de Karina. Two slender steles with a slightly offset attachment as a "head" tower above the road.
Willi Bauer's sculpture "King and Queen", a few metres further on the L497, exit Stadtmitte/Clausen, also depicts a couple.
On the same green space is Karl-Heinz Deutsch's massive sculpture "Beilkopf". Deutsch is known in the Palatinate for his "heads" and "helmets". This is his largest head figure to date.
The two sculptors among the artists, Rotraud Hofmann and Isabelle Federkeil, were more drawn to the city centre: Hofmann's "Change" is a stone column on which the grains of the red sandstone are particularly accentuated. It stands in the green space at the corner of Bahnhof-/Dr.Johann-Peter-Frank-Straße.
Opposite it, Federkeil has placed her work "Sound and Silence". Metal tubes frame the roughly hewn stone and correspond with Hofmann's column.
The figure "Riddle" by Jean-Marc Tournois from France, which is reminiscent of a sphinx, stands in a prominent position in the Old Town opposite St. Mary's Church.
Further information and photos of the artworks are available at Kulturland-Rheinland-Pfalz.
