Selected alternatives for you
A still little-known route to probably the only place in the Totes Gebirge from where Grundlsee, Toplitzsee, and Kammersee can be seen simultaneously.

The ascent to the Drei-Seen-Blick largely follows the old alpine path to the Lackenhütte. Only at the very top does it leave this path to cross to the actual viewpoint in steep terrain on a new trail. Below you initially are on a GEOTRAIL or the "Herb Circular Trail" which circles the Gößler meadow. In the middle the alpine path was replaced by a forest road, which is followed today, although the old ramp is still partly visible; before and after you are on the original route.

Impressive is the beautiful view back to the Grundlsee already soon after the start of the actual ascent. In the middle section, the clearly audible roar of a waterfall surprises which plunges into the much lower Toplitzsee on the other side of the ice age "fjord", and towards the end you marvel at a massive old ramp, which has a retaining wall more than 10 meters high.

    Author’s recommendation

You can extend the "Drei-Seen-Blick" by a "Dachstein View" by continuing straight at the last fork and following the old path through the "Kammertret" to the Lackenhütte (about 1 hour additional uphill).

    Safety information

This route is not marked but sufficiently signposted with green signposts. A very short section at the end is secured but not difficult.

    Tips and suggestions

Other beautiful hikes in the region are a Grundlsee circuit as well as a circuit over the Zimitzalm.

    Roadbook

Behind the guesthouse "Rostiger Anker" you cross the bridge over the Toplitzbach and follow the green signpost "Drei-Seen-Blick" to the left. At the following fork in the path, keep far right and immediately thereafter you will find another signpost. Follow the course of the wide Stimitzbach for a short distance, then continue straight on a forest road into the woods. At the next fork, stay right on the main path; at the branch of the "Herb Circular Trail" continue straight until you reach a former gravel quarry. Here follow a green sign pointing right onto a footpath which initially ascends steeply but soon changes into an old alpine track with a pleasantly steady incline, from which you have a nice view back to the Grundlsee. After a small saddle in the beech forest, the alpine path continues uphill and soon runs high above the Toplitzsee, shimmering up through the trees. At a fork keep left and continue gently uphill, passing several stone cairns. From the depths you soon hear the roaring of a waterfall plunging into the Toplitzsee on the opposite shore. You reach a forest road and follow it about 2 km to the left (signposted), partly slightly downhill, until shortly before it ends another green sign points right. From here you are back on the old alpine path, which crosses a slope diagonally uphill and then overcomes a terrain step through steep rocky terrain via a high ramp. Shortly afterwards you find a signpost pointing left onto a new path which runs horizontally through the forest and then over a secured rocky ridge. Behind this you reach the "Drei-Seen-Blick" high above the Kammerboden and can enjoy the magnificent view from a wooden bench.

For the way back, follow the ascent route.
