Vierbergeweg Stage 4 St. Leonhard near Liebenfels - Sörg
Beautiful routes in Carinthia's nature
Author’s recommendation
On the steep ascent to the Veitsberg, there is a rest area with a magnificent view that invites you to linger and catch your breath. Directly on the Veitsberg, you can ring the wishing bell following the model of the Vierberge hikers at the Vierbergelauf and collect leaves of the boxwood. A stop at the cozy inns of the idyllic village Gradenegg offers itself at the end of the hike.

Roadbook
You leave Zwattendorf again and follow the marked hiking trail northwards. The strenuous and steep slope leads up the Veitsberg until you finally reach the small church dedicated to Saint Vitus/Veit. A wooden bench invites you to rest, allowing your gaze to wander over Zwattendorf to Lake Ossiach through the treetops. Along the pleasant and shaded forest path, you leave the heights of the Veitsberg again and cross the so-called "Grund" at the valley floor after passing through the northern part of Liemberg. After a short ascent, the church tower of Gradenegg already greets from afar, where two rustic inns invite you to rest.
You leave Gradenegg eastwards and bypass Steinerkogel via forest and meadow trails, repeatedly with magnificent views of the Glan valley and the Karawanks. In Pflausach, you cross the Adventure Water Path which passes through the impressive gorge of the Harterbach with the 25m high Sörger waterfall. The Martinskirche in Sörg shows the way from afar to the quaint village on the "balcony" of the Glan valley.
