From St. Vith (Belgium) to the Nürburgring, the cycle path connects the Belgian Ardennes with the Eifel, running almost exclusively on a former railway line between St. Vith and Prüm.
Play of Contrasts
Between the cultural city of Prüm and Belgian St. Vith, the cycle path runs with gentle gradients on a former railway line – perfect for leisure cyclists. From Prüm to the Nürburgring, it is more suitable for sporty cyclists. Technology enthusiasts will be thrilled at the Pronsfeld junction with the restored Deutz small locomotive, also at the "entrance" to the visitor mine Neue Hoffnung or the "underpass" of the ridge near Bleialf via the 400-meter-long tunnel* (closed from Nov. to Mar. as a winter roost for bats). With a bit of luck, nature lovers enjoy the sight of a beaver family building a dam in the valley of the Alf brook, in any case lush green meadows and forest landscapes interspersed with numerous bridges and the picturesque valleys of the border river Our.
Sights along the way
- Prüm/Salvator Basilica
- Niederprüm/Fountain and Sculpture Park
- Bleialf/Mühlenberger Stollen Bleialf
*Note:
Due to construction work, the tunnel is closed to cyclists until 15.07.2024.
