Schwengelbrunnen

  The old Schwengelbuur was built in the 15th century. At that time, a Hungarian countess married at the Ehrenburg. She brought with her servants and maids from Hungary, who settled around the castle and in the Ehrenburg Valley. This countess donated the Schwengel fountain to the community of Morshausen, which was then obligated to perform labor for the Ehrenburg. In memory of her homeland, it was built in the style of the Hungarian puszta fountains. Since the countess was named Maria, the fountain is often called "Maria Buar." The women of Morshausen held their wash day at the fountain. The laundry was bleached and dried on the adjacent meadow. Even today, the Schwengel fountain stands as a reminder of the past in Brunnenstraße. The wooden structure has since been renewed by the community at regular intervals.
