Der Schatzenstein ist mit einer Höhe von ca. 760 m ü. NHN ein beliebtes Wanderziel. Aufgrund der umliegenden Bewaldung ist leider kein weiter Ausblick von hier möglich. Auf dem höchsten Punkt befindet sich eine Säule der Königlich-Sächsischen Triangulation. Im Felsgestein ist eine Gedenktafel für den zwischen 1887 und 1893 im Gebiet tätigen Oberförster Max Schreyer angebracht. Dieser ist Autor des bekannten Liedes "Dar Vuglbärbaam".
