Die Hohenwartscharte ist ein hochalpiner Übergang vom Leitertal zum Hofmannskees. Bereits die Erstbesteiger des Großglockners haben diese Route im Jahr 1800 gewählt. Durch die zunehmende Ausaperung wurde dieser Übergang 2007 komplett neu mit Trittstufen und Seilversicherungen augestattet. Bei der Begehung der Scharte wird aufgrund des losen Gesteins ein Steinschlaghelm empfohlen. Eine Seilsicherung ist bei vereisten Verhälntnissen und für Ungeübte zu empfehlen.

Hallo Gregor, die Versicherungen werden in Partnerschaft mit den Heiligenbluter Bergführern gewartet, sodass eine Begehung der Scharte gewährleistet ist. Sowohl hinauf als auch hinunter. Ein Abseilen ist nicht erforderlich! Am Ende der Versicherungen kann aber noch Gletschereis "ausapern". Nehme an es hat jetzt wieder geschneit dort oben, dann ist der Zustieg bzw. Abstieg zur Scharte leichter. wünsche dir eine schöne Tour und gemütliche Zeit auf der Salmhütte! Michael
