The biggest subterranean waterfalls in Europe are located in Lauterbrunnen. The Trümmelbach Falls are sourced by meltwater from the Jungfrau glacier. The 10 cascades are especially impressive during the snow thaw from April to June and the glacier melt from June to September. As much as 20'000 litres thunders through the Trümmelbach chasm every second. The acoustically and visually imposing Trümmelbach Falls have always been a source of fascination for writers and other artists.
