The Wolfenberg or Wolfsberg is a striking mountain cone to the north-west of the town centre. Several walking and hiking trails lead to its summit. The easiest way to the top is from both the Wolfach and Oberwolfach sides via the Hapbach stream.
The district boundary between Wolfach and Oberwolfach runs across the summit of the Wolfenberg. At the end of the 19th century, the mountains around Wolfach were systematically developed for tourism. The beautification association laid out hiking trails and opened up viewpoints for the increasing number of summer holidaymakers, as the guests were called at the time.
In addition to the Vorstadtberg, Reutherberg and Kreuzberg, paths were also built on the Wolfenberg, critical points were secured with railings, areas were cleared, benches and seating areas were installed and viewpoints were marked. The paths are still maintained today and the weather vane, painted in the town colours, still stands at one of the viewpoints.
