The ascent is arduous but rewarding. From the Stuckhäusle you can enjoy a sweeping view over the town and up the valley towards Schmelzegrün.
The Stuckhäusle takes its name from the Stuckgeschützen, the cannons of the town's former defences. It is not known whether they were kept up here. But they were regularly used here, albeit for peaceful purposes, such as firing firecrackers.
Even today, there is still the occasional cannon up on the hill above the town. On Corpus Christi and the Feast of St Laurentius, the patron saint of the town church in August, the Wolfach civic defence brigade really lets it rip with the firecracker cannon early in the morning and during the procession.
