Den Rätikon teilen sich 3 Länder: Die Schweiz, Österreich und das Fürstentum Liechtenstein. Insgesamt gibt es im Rätikon rund 300 benannte Gipfel, alle unter 3000 Meter. Der Rätikon ist auch in Kletterkreisen ein Thema: Kletterer aus der ganzen Welt pilgern ins Prättigau.
Der Rätikon bietet neben einem vielfältigen Wanderwegnetz über vielfältige Klettermöglichkeiten an der Grenze zu Österreich. Unzählige Kletterrouten in bestem plattigem Kalk, warten in den kilometerlangen Wänden, die von der Schijenfluh bis zu den Kirchlispitzen reichen. Das Klettergebiet wird auch in internationalen Kletterkreisen wegen seiner Vielfalt geschätzt, und es wurden ihm bereits mehrere Kletterführer gewidmet.
