Im Jahr 1927 ging das Kraftwerk Palü als oberste Stufe der Kraftwerkskette «oberes Puschlav» in Betrieb.
Die unterste Stufe Robbia war zu dieser Zeit bereits knappe 20 Jahre am Netz. Anfang der 20-er Jahre bestanden konkrete Ausbaupläne, was den Palüsee betrifft. Man ging davon aus, dass das Stauziel des Palüsees innerhalb weniger Jahre wesentlich erhöht wurde. Der Standort für die Zentrale Palü wurde folglich aus diesem Gesichtspunkt bestimmt. Das führte zu der wohl einzigartigen Anordnung des Kraftwerks Palü mit einer quasi auf Bodenebene vertikalachsigen Peltonturbine und einer zweiten Turbine (Francis), über 30 Meter tiefer gelegen und an derselben Achse drehend. Zur Verringerung der Abhängigkeit vom Ausland wurden während dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in der Zentrale Palü Pumpen eingebaut. Seither wird im Palüsee gefasstes Wasser durch den Triebwasserweg Lago Bianco-Palü in den Lago Bianco hochgepumpt.

Vom Bahnhof Poschiavo oder Pontresina nehmen Sie den Zug und steigen bei der Haltstelle Alp Grüm aus. Gehen Sie den Weg etwa 20 Minuten entlang und folgen Sie den Wegweisern.
