The Kochsruhe was built in 1883 by the Drachenfels Club above the Kastaniendelle. There is a memorial stone with a plaque in memory of the local researcher and co-founder of the Drachenfels Club, District Court Director Karl Koch from Kaiserslautern. The site was created by vineyard owner Councilor Karl Schaefer. The Drachenfels Club owns a larger forest estate at this location.
