Eifel-Blick "Panoramablick"

A magnificent view is offered here on the outskirts of the village of Dreiborn on the Dreiborn high plateau. The gaze stretches far to the southeast all the way to the Hohe Acht and the Michelsberg in the Vulkaneifel. The castle "Troys Fontainez" (= Dreiborn = "three springs") was mentioned for the first time in 1334. Count Wilhelm V of Jülich took it as a fief from King Johann of Bohemia from the House of Luxembourg at that time. The Dreiborn water castle is, at an elevation of 540 meters above sea level, the highest located in the Rhineland. In its 700-year history, periods of glory and severe devastation alternated. The consequences were repeated reconstructions and demolitions, so that only a few parts of the original impressive complex and castle towers have survived for posterity. Over 250 years ago, the water castle Dreiborn was still surrounded by magnificent gardens in Rococo style.
