Dobogó-kő (lookout point)
On the top of the steep rock outcrop behind Baron Loránd Eötvös Hikers’ Lodge a lookout terrace was established, which is one of the most popular hiking destinations of the country. Even lining up may be necessary at weekends.
The key element of the view is the winding Danube surrounded by rolling hills. Signature rocks of Vadálló-kövek punctuate the landscape on the right with Prédikálószék behind. A little left of them runs Szőke-forrás Valley with the red roofs of Dömös at the end along the riverside. Just opposite it is Rám Hill that rises above its surroundings with Árpád-vár Hill on its left and the gorge of Rám-szakadék in between. Looking left Szer-kövek and Szakó-hegy are visible. On the other side of the river it hugs Szent Mihály-hegy with Börzsöny Mountains in the background. It is easy to identify Naszály with the mine pit on its side. In clear weather slopes of Cserhát and Mátra are also visible in the east.
The lookout is a starting point for several hiking trails, e.g. Thirring, Rezső and Zsivány loop trails. Longer hikes can take you to Rám-szakadék (Rám gorge) and Prédikálószék (lookout tower). Take the level hike to the nearby Rezső lookout tower for the majestic view.
It is worth visiting Baron Loránd Eötvös Hikers’ Lodge with the Hikers’ Museum.
