Visitors can enjoy a fantastic view of the Saar Valley from the bird cliff in Saarhölzbach, even with a roof over their heads in bad weather thanks to the shelter.
This is Nils Thielmann's suggestion for the big SZ campaign "My favourite place".
Nils Thielmann suggests the Vogelfelsen in Saarhölzbach as his personal favourite place as part of our big SZ campaign. Thielmann writes about his suggestion, which is close to his hometown: "From the Saarhölzbach forest car park, it's about 1.4 kilometres uphill along the Saarhölzbach path until you reach the Volgelfelsen viewpoint. Up there, you can take a break and let your gaze wander over the surrounding mountains, including the rocky slopes and forests, and enjoy the view of Saarhölzbach. Here, surrounded by nature, you can escape the fast-paced world around you and enjoy the peace and quiet." Afterwards, according to Thielmann, the further ascent of around 2.7 kilometres to Hundscheider Weiher is worthwhile. "If you still haven't had enough, you can walk to Britten and return to Saarhölzbach via the Steinhauerweg," says Thielmann.
