Jüdisches Leben hatte es in Mosbach seit Anfang des 13. Jahrhunderts gegeben, wobei um 1880 die meisten Juden in der Stadt lebten.

Die Synagoge war 1860 erbaut und in der "Reichskristallnacht" 1938

nieder gebrannt worden. An ihrer Stelle wurde 1986 eine Gedenkstätte errichtet.
