Der Brunnenkopf ist mit 1.718m ein Gipfel oberhalb des Graswangtals im Naturpark Ammergauer Alpen. Er bietet Ausblicke bis in das Wettersteingebiet und unterhalb des Gipfels laden die Brunnenkopfhäuser zur Einkehr ein. 

Das Gebiet rund um den Brunnenkopf liegt im Naturschutzgebiet Ammergebirge und ist ein wertvoller Lebensraum für seltene Tiere wie Raufußhühner und Gämsen, die die felsigen und bewaldeten Hänge bewohnen. Auf den alpinen Matten gedeihen zudem botanische Raritäten wie Orchideenarten und der Enzian. Hier können auch Birkhühner ideale Bedingungen finden: Das störungsempfindliche Raufußhuhn besiedelt die Ränder des Bergwaldes sowie die daran angrenzenden Latschenfelder und Offenflächen. Im Spätherbst und Frühjahr werben die Männchen in einer spektakulären Gruppenbalz um die Gunst der Weibchen. Um den Fortpflanzungserfolg der seltenen Vögel nicht zu gefährden, dürfen sie dabei nicht gestört werden.  Im Winter überstehen sie kalte Winternächte und frostige Mittagsstunden in Schneehöhlen. Für die Nahrungssuche bleiben ihnen nur die Morgen- und Abendstunden. Werden sie dabei gestört, verlieren sie viel Energie auf der Flucht. Auch das ohnehin knappe Zeitfenster auf der Suche nach Knospen und Trieben engt sich noch weiter ein. 

Um die wertvolle Natur im Ammergebirge zu schützen, halte dich bitte an folgende Regeln: Bleib auf den Wegen und vermeide Feuer und Müll. Besonders in der Dämmerung reagieren Wildtiere empfindlich auf Störungen. Vermeide daher Touren bei Sonnenaufgang und -untergang und respektiere das Camping- und Biwakverbot, um die Tiere nicht unnötig zu belasten. So bleibt diese einzigartige Landschaft auch in Zukunft unberührt und wunderschön.

Kleiner Tipp: Aktiviere unten rechts den Kartenlayer "Hinweise und Sperrungen", so werden alle Schutzgebiete sichtbar und du kannst dich optimal auf deine Tour vorbereiten.

Public transport

Touren vom Graswangtal zum Brunnenkopf können umweltfreundlich mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln erreicht werden.

Die Anreise ab München dauert mit Bahn und Bus etwa drei Stunden und ermöglicht dir eine stressfreie Fahrt in die Ammergauer Alpen – perfekt, um die Natur von Anfang an zu genießen.
