Der italienische Grenzort liegt im Dreiländereck Italien, Slowenien, Österreich. Neben der Bedeutung als Ausgangspunkt für Bergtouren und als Wintersportort, ist Tarvis ein beliebter Hot Spot für alle Radfahrer. Direkt am Ciclovia Alpe Adria gelegen lädt Tarvis zu einem Zwischenstopp bei typisch italienischem Espresso oder einem Glas Wein.
Von Tarvis aus führen weitere Touren beispielsweise Richtung Kranjska Gora und zum Vrsic-Pass, zu den Laghi di Fusine, dem Lago del Predil und Sella Nevea. Für alle, die ausgedehntere Touren bevorzugen geht es von Tarvis weiter Richtung Kanaltal bis hin zur Adria.
