Der Karlsplatz mit seinen Wasserfontänen und dem Denkmal von Fürst Karl von Hohenzollern ist der östliche Eingang zur Altstadt.
In der Platzmitte befindet sich ein Wasserspiel mit über 20 Wasserfontänen. Das Schauspiel kann während der warmen Jahreszeit bewundert werden und dient im Sommer perfekt zur Abkühlung.
Beachtenswert auf dem Karlsplatz ist das Denkmal von Fürst Karl von Hohenzollern (1785-1853). Die Jahreszahl 1869 bezieht sich auf die Errichtung des Denkmals, mit dem Fürst Karl als Wohltäter - er hatte u.a. das Fürst Carl Krankenhaus gegründet - geehrt werden sollte.
Vom Karlsplatz aus hat man einen tollen Blick auf das gegenüberliegende Hohenzollernschloss. Diesen kann man entspannt bei einem Besuch der Eisdiele "La Piazza caffè e gelato" genießen.
