Every city has it's own significant place, which is considered to be it's beating heart. If you find yourself standing in the centre of a Freedom Square in Brno you will not even think that this is the a historical city centre, because it's actually doesn't look like the typical one.
According to the legend, originally there was a church of St. Nicholas there but it was knocked down and now you can mention it's contours just around the tramways.By the way, trams is one more unusual thing for a main square. But the most surprising one is a big black monument resembling a spaceship. Actually this is an astronomical clock, that shows only one time 11 am. The reason for this is the history of saving Brno durind the Swedish seige in 1645. Only at this time you can take a chance and try to catch a small glass ball, falling out of one of the holes. There are also several monuments and interesting buildings including the Plague Column, the House of Lords of Lipá and the House of Four Giants.
