A 20. század elején a területen pezsgett az élet: a kőszegiek gyakran jártak ide kirándulni, piknikezni; a forrás volt a középpont, körülötte pavilonok álltak. Aztán a II. világháború után a vasfüggöny határsávjába került, ezért az erdei munkásokon és katonákon kívül évtizedekig nem volt látogatható.
A rendszerváltást követően felszabadult pihenőhelyet azóta felújították, és érdemes kitérőt tenni hozzá a közeli Kéktúráról. Vízrajzi érdekessége, hogy vize a Kőszegi-hegység patakjaival ellentétben már éppen nem a Gyöngyös, hanem a Répce felé veszi az irányt, így a Nyugat-magyarországi peremvidéken meghatározó Rába kihagyásával éri el a Dunát.
A helyszínen tábla hívja fel a turisták figyelmét, hogy a víz a 2014 áprilisi bevizsgálás eredménye alapján kémiai szempontból megfelelő, bakterológiai szempontból viszont kifogásolható, ezért nem ivóvíz.

- Indulhatunk a kőszegi vasútállomásról vagy a Kőszeg, autóbusz-állomásról is.

- Ólmodról a sárga Alpannonia jelzések vezetnek a forráshoz (2,7 km, 58 m szintemelkedés).
- A kőszegi vasútállomásról a K+ jelzéseket kövessük, míg be nem csatlakoznak a város központjában a K jelzésbe, melyen északi irányba kell elindulnunk, majd 5 km után a kéket elhagyva a Mária Út ᵯ jelzésein kanyarodjunk balra (6,3 km, 73 m szintemelkedés).
- A kőszegi autóbusz-állomásról induljunk nyugati irányba! Az elágazáshoz érve a Kossuth utcán forduljunk balra, ahol a P jelzéseket kell követnünk. Az első kereszteződésnél térjünk jobbra (ez szintén a Kossuth Lajos utca), ahonnan a K és ᵯ jelzésen kell haladnunk 4 km-t, majd a balra térő ᵯ jelzésen kell elsétálnunk a forrásig (5,1 km, 66 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Kőszeg külső utcáiban (pl. a K nyomvonalán a Kiss János utcában) ingyenesen parkolhatunk.
- Ólmodon a falu nyugati végén érdemes parkolni.
