Die Orlaquelle hat einem gesamten Tal im Ost-Thüringen seinen Namen gegeben.

Die Orla entspringt in zwei Quellgebieten zwischen den Orten Triptis, Braunsdorf und Gütterlitz. Der kleine Fluss hat eine Länge von 35 km und wird anfangs in der Talsperre Triptis aufgestaut. Der Fluss fließt von seinen Quellen aus zunächst ungefähr 20 km in Richtung Westen. Dabei durchfließt er im Bereich der oberen Orlasenke nach etwa 12 km die Stadt Neustadt an der Orla. Bei Pößneck biegt der Fluss nach Norden ab und mündet nach weiteren 15 km bei Orlamünde in die Saale.

Aufgrund des ziemlich großen Einzugsgebietes der Orla kam es in der Vergangenheit immer wieder zu Überschwemmungen der Stadt Triptis. Das letzte Hochwasser war im Sommer 1975. Daraufhin erfolgte in den Jahren von 1977-1980 der Bau der Talsperre Triptis, die gleichzeitig ein Naherholungsgebiet darstellt.

Auf und um die Talsperre leben mittlerweile wilde Schwäne, Enten und Bleßhühner. Der auf der Dammkrone angelegte Fußweg verlief anfangs um die gesamte Talsperre, heute führt der Weg auf der Nordseite der Talsperre nur noch bis zum Vorstau. Allerdings hat sich die Natur um die Talsperre in den letzten Jahren zu einem wahren Biotop entwickelt. Wir laden Sie hiermit herzlich ein, die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt rund um die Talsperre zu entdecken.

Ab dem Bahnhof Triptis erreicht man die Orlaquelle fußläufig über die Bahnhofstraße, Geraerstraße, Schillerstraße, Braunsdorfer Straße.

Nutzen Sie die Abfahrt A9 Triptis und folgen Sie der Richtung Gera bis zur Abfahrt Triptis Gewerbegebiet. Durch den Ortsteil Oberpöllnitz fahren Sie am Bahnhof entlang über die Bahnhofstraße bis zur Geraer Straße. Diese ein kurzes Stück in Richtung Zentrum Links abbiegend die Schillerstraße bis wiederum Links abbiegend in die Braunsdorferstraße fahren. Diese folgt man bis zum Wegweiser Orlaquelle.

Parking

An der Quelle stehen keine Parkplätze zur Verfügung, es ist jedoch möglich am Feldrand das KfZ zu parken. Bitte achten Sie auf die Durchfahrtsbreiten für den Landwirtschaftlichen Verkehr.
