A Hermann Ottó-emléktáblától nem messze metszi a Kőszeg és Velem közt kanyargó Terv-utat a Z jelzés, ez vezet a forráshoz (az úton tábla is jelzi a leágazást a forráshoz). Előtte néhány tíz méterrel találunk egy szépen kiépített pihenőhelyet, esőbeálló-házikóval, padokkal, tűzrakó hellyel.
Az ösvényről még néhány lépcsőn át közelíthetjük meg a forrást, amelyet kőfal támaszt meg a hegy felőli oldalán. A kifolyó két oldalán mohával belepett kövek sejtetik a névadás logikáját. A foglalást 1963-ban a kőszegi Jurisics Miklós Gimnázium természetjárói készítették.
A forrás vize a Kőszegi-hegység egyik fő vízfolyását, a Gyöngyöst táplálja. A hegységben eredő patakok vízjárása meglehetősen szeszélyes, ugyanis a bőséges és intenzív csapadékhullások során a rövid, nagyesésű patakokon rendkívül gyorsan vonulnak le az árhullámok, és a főfolyóba érve gyakran okoznak jelentős áradásokat.
A 2015-ben felújított forrás időszakosan működik, de kifogásolt minőségű vizét nem ajánlják ivásra.

- A Bozsok és Kőszeg között közlekedő buszokról a Cák, Pogányhegy bejárati út megállónál érdemes leszállni.

- A buszmegállóból induljunk a város felé, majd 250 méter múlva a S jelzésen térjünk le balra. Az elágazásban a S+ jelzést kövessük, de rögtön térjünk is le róla jobbra, az ösvény átvezet a Z jelzésre. Ezen balra indulunk tovább, amíg el nem érünk a forráshoz (2,1 km).
- A parkolótól délre induljunk, a Felsőerdő úton sétáljunk, majd a sípályánál lévő elágazásban tartsunk jobbra. Amikor másodszor keresztezzük a Z jelzést (a Hermann Ottó-emléktábla után), forduljunk balra az erdőbe. Hamarosan elérünk a pihenőhelyhez és a forráshoz (1,8 km).

- Autónkat érdemes a Kincs-pihenőben leparkolni (Okmányos).
