The source of Burgalb springs near a small forest pond and shortly afterwards flows into the Schwarzbach at the Pferdsbrunnenweiher.

As a basin for the water drainage of the Burgalb pond, one half of the ornate, former fountain bowl from the Trippstadt castle garden is used. The other half is located at the entrance to Trippstadt castle, where it serves as a flower bowl. The name "Heidelsburg" was significant for the forest stream "Burgalb" and the village "Burgalben." It was situated in the valley on the southern flank of the Dreisammer mountain.
