Die Ammerquellen im Naturschutzgebiet Ettaler Weidmoos, eingebettet zwischen Oberammergau und Ettal im Naturpark Ammergauer Alpen, bieten ein beeindruckendes Naturschauspiel. Hier tritt das Wasser der im westlich gelegenen Graswangtal versickernden Linder in mehreren Quelltöpfen wieder an die Oberfläche, sichtbar durch die aufsteigenden Luftblasen. Nach wenigen Metern vereinigen sich die kleinen Quellströme zur „Kleinen Ammer“, die sich in sanften Schleifen durch den Moorboden des Ettaler Beckens windet. Kurz darauf nimmt die „Große Ammer“ ihren Lauf und fließt weiter gen Norden. Von einer Aussichtsplattform aus kannst du die Luftblasen im Quellbereich beobachten und das Schauspiel der Natur hautnah erleben.

Das Gebiet ist nicht nur ein geologisches, sondern auch ein ökologisches Juwel. Die Moorlandschaften und die vielfältige Vegetation des angrenzenden Weidmooses sind äußerst empfindlich und benötigen besonderen Schutz. Um die fragilen Lebensräume zu bewahren, ist es wichtig, dass Besucher auf den markierten Wegen bleiben. 

In den Quellbereichen gedeiht eine einzigartige Flora, darunter die Armleuchteralgen, die in den klaren, schnell fließenden Quellbächen wachsen. Diese Algen sind ein Indikator für exzellente Wasserqualität und spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der natürlichen Entkalkung des Wassers. Jede Störung, sei es durch Tritte oder das Einbringen von Fremdstoffen, gefährdet diesen empfindlichen Lebensraum. Umso mehr ist es von Bedeutung, die Naturschutzbestimmungen zu respektieren, auf den markierten Wegen zu bleiben und so aktiv zum Schutz dieses außergewöhnlichen Naturraums beizutragen.

Public transport

Die Ammerquellen sind bequem und stressfrei mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln erreichbar – ideal für eine entspannte Wanderung inmitten der Natur.

Es gibt zwei einfache Anreisemöglichkeiten: Von Murnau am Staffelsee fahren regelmäßig Busse und Bahnen nach Oberammergau oder über Oberau nach Ettal, die beide perfekte Ausgangspunkte für deinen Aufstieg bieten. Die Anreise aus München dauert mit der Bahn oder dem Bus nur etwa zwei Stunden – eine schnelle, umweltfreundliche und bequeme Möglichkeit, die Schönheit der Ammergauer Alpen zu entdecken.
