In the cellars of a half-timbered house from 1726, the river that has made Blankenheim famous far beyond the borders of the country springs forth. The Ahr shapes a large part of the landscape in the municipality of Blankenheim and makes its way through the romantic Ahr Valley, until it flows into the Rhine in Sinzig after 89 km.
The spring water is not drinking water, but it is of relatively good quality for a body of water located in an agricultural catchment area.
