Hrad Štamberk je spojen s lidovými pověstmi o templářích, jejich pokladech skrytých ve skalách a tajných chodbách, které údajně vedly až do Telče nebo na hrad Roštejn.

Severozápadně od obce Lhotka u Telče se na skalnatém návrší nachází zbytky hradu, který zde nechali postavit Šternberkové - pravděpodobně Jaroslav ze Šternberka, připomínaný v letech 1284 - 1287 jako purkrabí na hradě Bítově. Později patřil hrad pánům z Hradce a za husitských válek byl dobyt a pobořen. Dochovalo se z něj torzo palácové zdi, zbytky strážní věže a hradeb

V okolí zříceniny byla vyhlášena přírodní rezervace s původními bukovými porosty a balvanitým svahem přecházejícím v kamenné moře.

Zřícenina je volně přístupná.
