Die Burgruine Falkenstein liegt spektakulär auf einem 400 Meter senkrecht abfallenden Felskopf auf 1.277 Meter Höhe. Urkunklich erstmals im Jahr 1290 erwähnt, war die Burg der letzte Plan von König Ludwig II. für einen Schlossneubau.
