The baroque monastery church was built in 1681
Wittichen monastery church
The monastery church is a baroque gem and is still the destination of many pilgrims today. There is a tombstone with the coat of arms of the Urslingen family. A small museum has been set up in the old monastery stables, which exhibits treasures such as the monstrance, chasubles and similar items from the monastery, as well as minerals from Wittichen. The outwardly simple baroque building from 1681 was built on the foundations of an older Gothic church. Inside the church, the main altar, the two side altars and the pulpit are particularly worth seeing. The church also houses the tomb of St Luitgard.
Tip: Every 2nd Sunday in October, the Luitgard festival takes place with a solemn procession.
