Unter Oberbürgermeister Werner begann man 1895 mit dem Anlegen des Stadtparkes. Den Kern des innerstädtischen Erholungsbereiches bildet der schon um 1600 angelegte Amtsteich. 1928 wurde das Dieselkraftwerk gebaut. Der Amtsteich mit Bastion und Wasserfontäne beeindruckt ebenso wie die Ufergestaltung an den Bachläufen.
