In the only phantasy garden with surreal sculptures, fountains and architecture in all Germany, dreams literally come true.
Since 1983, Otfried Culmann has been working on realizing a fantastic garden that significantly differs from the known artist gardens. Early on, he engaged with outsider architectures in other countries and visited the fantasy worlds of architectural poets. These include Tomaso Buzzi, Fernand Cheval, Antoni Gaudi, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Danielle Jacqui, Jacques Lucas, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Robert Tatin, Bruno Weber, among others. The working methods of outsider artists are often spontaneous, without prior planning. The figures and architectures grow through an inner compulsion, a vision, or follow a playful construction drive, resulting in fascinating outcomes.
Inspired by his daydreams, he has intensified his building activities in recent years, using stones, tiles, mosaics, plates, cups, and glass pieces that he found, acquired at flea markets, or received from supporters.
He has transformed his house together with his wife into a fantastic house. In addition to the sculptures, figures, and architectures in the garden, one can admire his fantastic images and graphics in the house.
