Since 1997, an observatory has been available for amateur and hobby astronomers for public use for the first time.

Since 1997, an observatory accessible to amateur and hobby astronomers has been available for public use for the first time. It is located on the 584-meter-high Peterberg near Braunshausen. Every Saturday, public tours and multimedia lectures take place, providing insight into the universe that is two to five million light-years away.
