Bereits seit 50 Jahren werden in den Wäldern der Stadt Isny keine Kahlschläge mehr durchgeführt. Das gilt auch für diese Waldparzelle im Gschwendwald.

Im Stadtwald wird ein naturgemäßer Waldbau mit angepassten Wilddichten und standortgerechten Baumarten wie Weißtanne, Buche, Fichte und Bergahorn angestrebt. Ziel ist der allmähliche Umbau zum Plenterwald, eine naturnahe Form der Waldbewirtschaftung, die im Allgäu seit Jahrhunderten betrieben wird.
