The trail takes its name from local folklore and legends associated with the mysterious mountain landscape. According to regional stories, the dramatic cliffs and hidden ravines were believed to be places where supernatural forces roamed, giving rise to the evocative name “Devil’s Path”. Today, the route is known more for its natural beauty than its legends, attracting hikers seeking some of the Rhodopes’ most impressive scenery.
One of the trail’s highlights is the series of elevated wooden structures attached to cliff faces, allowing visitors to cross otherwise inaccessible sections of the canyon. Several viewpoints offer sweeping vistas across the forested valleys and limestone formations characteristic of this part of the Rhodope Mountains. The route also passes waterfalls, rock formations, and secluded sections of the river below.
The eco trail forms part of a wider network of natural attractions around Borino, including the Yagodina Cave, Devil's Throat Cave, Trigrad Gorge, Kemerov Bridge, and several ancient archaeological sites hidden throughout the surrounding mountains.
