If you love being out in nature, you’ll find what you’re looking for in the Hertogenwald, in the north of the High Fens. At over 6,000 hectares of wooded land, it is the largest forest massif in Belgium, offering not only significant economic potential but an ideal environment for extended cycling tours, thanks to its well-developed road network. The forest takes its name from a curious historical fact: since the 13th century, this land has been held by a long line of dukes (Hertogs) – first of Limburg, and then of Brabant.
