Beim Rabenstein handelt es sich um einen Findling bei Ermengerst. Der blockförmige Stein wurde zum Geotop erklärt. Er liegt auf einer Würm-Moräne aus dem Jung-Pleistozaen und besteht aus Konglomeratgestein, gemeinhin als Nagelfluh bezeichnet.
Erratische Blöcke wie der Rabenstein aus Konglomeratsgestein sind im Bereich des Kemptener Gletschers sehr häufig zu finden. Sie entstammen den quer zur Gletscherfließrichtung streichenden Molassebergen.
Auch um den Rabenstein ranken sich Legenden und Geschichten.
