Die Inde ist der größte Neben- und zugleich Zufluss der Rur. Sie entspringt südöstlich von Raeren in Belgien und mündet nach circa 54km südwestlich von Jülich in die Rur. Der Fluss ist Namensgeber für Ortschaften, Verein und Projekte, eine Tatsache, welche die große Bedeutung der Inde über seine Funktion als Landschaftsbildner hinaus unterstreicht.
